Vincent Messina, the producer of Alma Mater, and Don Giulio Neroni, a St. Paul priest opened the concert by reading a letter from Pope Benedict XVI in Italian and English.

Mark Pellew addressed the audience. He is also a former member of the Vatican choir which performed at the concert.
