With X Factor star Joe McElderry crowned Popstar to Operastar champion, it seems everyone’s jumping on the opera bandwagon… including the American rapper.
According to The Star, well-known rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg has his heart set on making a move into the opera world. Possibly inspired by Joe McElderry’s success on Popstar to Operastar, the hip-hop star told the paper that he’s constantly looking for new areas to explore.
“On my latest album The Doggumentary I worked with [country star] Willie Nelson and [pop star/producer] David Guetta. Next time I’d like to try a little opera.”
Snoop, famed for hits such as Nuthin' But A G Thang, Gin and Juice and Murder Was The Case, could make a seamless tradition into these rarefied environs. Rumours have already begun circulating (around the Classic FM water cooler) that brand new productions starring the rapper are in the pipeline. Could Fido and Aeneas, Dogg Giovanni and The Tales of Woofmann be hitting theatre stages soon? Fingers crossed!
