French cellist Gautier Capuçon was surprised on stage when the entire cello section of the orchestra played his solo along with him.
The Vienna-based Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra were rehearsing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto under the baton of Lorenzo Viotti, when the orchestra’s cello section decided to play the most heart-warming prank on the soloist, Gautier Capuçon. As Capuçon’s solo entry began, the entire cello section joined in and played together in unison.
Capuçon posted the video to Instagram, with a delighted message: “When the entire cello section surprises you, again!…What an amazing sound!!!”
