The London Symphony Orchestra's brand new season

There’s plenty to look forward to from one of the world's greatest orchestras.

The London Symphony Orchestra’s brand new season is now well and truly underway, having kicked off with a barnstorming performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto on Sunday 15 September – check out the reviews here.

Rigoletto was certainly a tough act to follow, but there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. To be sure, this season at the LSO looks to be the most exciting yet: 2013/14 features Evgeny Kissin, Mitsuko Uchida, Bernard Haitink, Emanuel Ax, Maxim Vengerov, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yuja Wang and Sir Simon Rattle, to name just a few.

You can browse events on lso.co.uk or flick through the digital version of the Orchestra’s season brochure, which is full of in-depth articles, features and details of forthcoming concerts.

There really is something for everyone at the LSO this season. Singing Sundays is perfect for choral music fans, and piano connoisseurs won’t want to miss Yuja Wang’s UBS Soundscapes Artist Portrait. A panoply of new guest conductors join the Orchestra as part of the LSO Invites series, and ‘Music Alchemists’ offers the scintillating opportunity to hear some of the world’s greatest conductors live in London. Meanwhile, principal conductor Valery Gergiev’s Berlioz series continues Sir Colin Davis’ legacy of definitive Berlioz interpretations, and Music in Colour offers kaleidoscopic and evocative music from synaesthetes Scriabin and Messiaen. Finally, for those who fancy trying something off the beaten track, there are cross-cultural Eclectica concerts, and new British Sounds alongside works by Elgar, Walton and Britten.
