The Association of British Orchestras chose Liverpool as its venue for their annual conference. Classic FM’s Anne-Marie Minhall went to the gathering of the country's finest ensembles to find out a little more from this coterie of musical luminaries.
The acclaimed cellist Julian Lloyd Webber is the founder and Chairman of In Harmony, a programme based on the inspirational El Sistema scheme from Venezuela. An on-going programme currently run in Liverpool, London and Norwich, it provides children from deprived communities in England with the opportunity to achieve their full potential through music. The Government are already planning on expanding the programme across the country, seeking new projects in the Midlands and the North East.
Anne-Marie Minhall spoke to Julian Lloyd Webber about the In Harmony project, its principles and the positive effect it has already had on children across the country. Lloyd Webber concludes by telling Anne-Marie about his upcoming performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto at Classic FM Live 2012.
