As with the other Bond films before it, John Barry was called upon to write the music for The Man With the Golden Gun, the second to star Roger Moore as Bond. Barry had only three weeks to write the score, and Barry himself would later express his dismay at the finished product: "It's the one I hate most... it just never happened for me."
