When you and your partner are enjoying a peaceful stroll through Central Park, only for someone to start playing a Vivaldi concerto at you...

Sometimes the best music arrives when you don't know it's coming. But really, who walks through a park expecting to be followed by an Elgar Romance?

The gift of unexpected, beautiful music was one that Instagram violinist Esther Abrami wanted to give to New Yorkers this Valentine's Day.

Her spontaneous serenades included Vivaldi and Elgar, as well as some on-the-spot improvisation. Those enjoying their lunch, out for a stroll and playing frisbee were soon consumed by Esther's rapid notes and virtuosic flourishes.

Bravo, Esther! You can find her on Instagram as well – follow her here. And you can find out more about the musicians who are redefining how to be a musician in the age of social media here.
