AyseDeniz, a Turkish classical pianist, has mixed the menacing theme from The Phantom of the Opera with a Baroque masterpiece.
“I’m happy to share with you my arrangement of The Phantom of the Opera and Bach’s Concerto in D minor,” AyseDeniz wrote on her Facebook post. “I’ll be playing this in my next shows!”
AyseDeniz starts with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous theme, before weaving in the melody from Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, all the while maintaining the octave jumps of the musical theme in the bass.
Because ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ has a uniquely dark, hard-rock feel – compared to the operatic style of the rest of the musical – it combines surprisingly well with the intensity of Bach’s first harpsichord concerto.
