Here’s the bad news: Anke Chen is probably better at piano than you will ever be.
Anke Chen was born in January 2011 (she is five years old in the video above) and can play Mozart, Bach and Chopin like a pianist of four times her age.
Aged four, Anke began taking piano lessons at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in China, with her teacher Zhang Feng. And now aged six, she can play like THIS:
Nope, your maths isn’t going dodgy, that is literally two years’ worth of practice.
And she doesn’t even need sheet music… watch her play Bach’s Prelude No.6 in D minor here from memory:
A comment on her YouTube channel reads: “[Have we found] a successor of Lang Lang?”
Perhaps we have; or perhaps Anke Chen will just be brilliantly virtuosic in her own right. Remember that name in ten years’ time…
