Here’s what happens when you play Stravinsky a bit too enthusiastically…

Alberto Chines, an Italian pianist, was playing Stravinsky’s The Firebird in concert with vigour and enthusiasm.

The Firebird, a ballet and orchestral work, is known for its energetic dances and crashing timpani drums.

But the music was all too much for Chines’ instrument. During a particularly powerful passage, a piece of one of the piano keys flew off under his right hand.

But then, like an absolute hero, Chines laughed it off and started the piece all over again, giving the audience a perfect new version. Expertly handled.
