Grieg’s arrangement of Mozart’s Fantasy in C minor catapults the work into a dramatic flowering of Romanticism, which Grieg convinces us had been latent in the original. Finer versions of Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos exist – the playing seems to lack adequate spontaneity, although it is musical and sympathetic.
