Choirs at Christmas with Lloyd Griffith 9pm - 10pm
This coming Sunday sees the first installment of The Promise, a new four-part drama on Channel Four, with music by composer Debbie Wiseman.
Directed by Peter Kosminsky, The Promise tells of a British girl's emotional journey retracing her grandfather's footsteps in Israel/Palestine, where he was stationed as a soldier in the 1940s. Wiseman's mammoth score for the series draws on Arabic music and instruments, combining them with full symphony orchestra.
Wiseman, who has a string of high profile soundtracks to her name, is currently working on a concert version of The Promise for a Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Gala night to be held in June.
She spoke to Classic FM's Bob Jones about the genesis of the piece, and how she made use of a range of exotic instruments to create an authentic feel.
