This orchestral flashmob will take you right back to the noughties – and it’s the best feeling.
In the summer of 2013, the Banc Sabadell in Spain brought together 100 musicians and singers to perform Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’ from his Symphony No. 9, also known as the anthem of the European Union.
It all happened in the Plaça de Sant Roc in Sabadell, Spain, near Barcelona, and the group was made up of musicians from the Orchestra Simfonica del Valles, Amics de l’Opera de Sabadell, Coral Belles Arts and Cor Lieder Camera.
The video starts with a little girl giving coins to a street musician, who casually starts playing his double bass and is then gradually joined by a whole orchestra and choir.
Sure, it’s all a bit staged, but this is still a really lovely video from the Banc Sabadell – kudos.
Watch it again on YouTube.
