When you just really want to watch your hero in concert, and they give you the nicest surprise in return…

A young fan of Ray Chen has been busking every day for the past few weeks, to save up money to buy tickets to see him in concert.

Allen Wang, 7, has been playing the violin for two years, and is a big fan of the Taiwanese-Australian virtuoso.

When Chen was told about Wang’s mission to see him in concert, he decided to give the young violinist a wonderful surprise.

“THIS IS SO CUTE!!” Chen wrote on Twitter, posting a video of the seven-year-old.

“Seven-year-old Allen Wang has been busking extra hard for the past few weeks to save up money for tickets to my concert!”

Touched by his enthusiasm, Chen invited Wang – who lives in Los Angeles – to watch him in a recital at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on 6 November. The violinist also included a VIP backstage tour, and tickets for Wang’s family.

“I’m so touched!” Chen wrote on Twitter. “Allen, you’re getting a VIP backstage tour and additional tickets for your family!”

Wang, who studies at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts in LA, has admitted he loves Ray Chen, and would love to play Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with him one day.

“Ray Chen is really funny. I think he’s really good at the violin. I really, really, really, really want to play with Ray Chen,” he says in a video on his dad’s YouTube account.

Sounds like his dream isn’t too far from becoming a reality...
