A new music video has been released for ‘Ave Maria Pietas’, Andrea Bocelli’s duet with Russian soprano Aida Garifullina.

Andrea Bocelli has released a new music video with Aida Garifullina in a Classic FM exclusive.

The video to ‘Ave Maria Pietas’ is set in a church and features emotive modern dance scenes, complementing the pair’s vocals.

A duet for soprano and tenor, ‘Ave Maria Pietas’ comes from Bocelli’s new album, – his first album of all-new material in 14 years. The song uses most of the original words from the Catholic prayer ‘Ave Maria’, but it changes the order and uses a new tune.

The duet marks Bocelli’s first official recording with Aida Garifullina, the young Russian soprano and rising star who performed with Robbie Williams at the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Moscow. The pair have, however, performed together in concert before, singing Andrea Bocelli's well-known hit ‘Con te partirò’ (Time to Say Goodbye).

On 2 November, Andrea Bocelli became the first classical artist to reach No. 1 in the Official UK Album Chart since 1994, when The Three Tenors reached the top spot.

Bocelli said of his achievement: “Life never ceases to amaze. I would never have imagined achieving this, even in a country that welcomed me from the very beginning.

His album also features duets with Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Josh Groban and Andrea's son Matteo BocelliListen to  here.
