Aled Jones receives MBE at Buckingham Palace

Classic FM presenter honoured at first investiture hosted by the Duke of Cambridge.

Classic FM presenter and singer Aled Jones has received an MBE at a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony hosted for the first time by the Duke of Cambridge.

Aled was given the award in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, revealed in June this year. He received it for services to music, broadcasting and charitable services.

"I never expected to be honoured for anything I've done… it's a bonus. A massive bonus," Aled said on learning of the honour.

Also honoured today was Wimbledon champion Andy Murray who was given an OBE by Prince William, who recently gave up operational duties with the RAF. The Duke is now said to be in a transitional year and is considering options for his public service.

Around 25 investitures are held each year, most of them staged in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace.
