We’re giving you the chance to win a trip to see the brilliant VOCES8 in the glorious setting of the North Wales International Music Festival, with a luxury stay in the five-star country house hotel Palé Hall.
The Festival was founded in 1972 by Welsh composer William Mathias, and is held every year in the ancient St Asaph Cathedral. Running from 16 to 30 September, this year’s theme is ‘Journeys’, and the programme will take the audience on a musical journey from the formality of Vienna to the flamboyance of Mexico – and from the lightness of the Baroque recorder to the bold American music of Aaron Copland.
VOCES8 are one of the world's most versatile and best-loved a cappella groups. This is your chance to win a pair of tickets to their concert on Thursday 28 September.
VOCES8 will present a concert exploring longing of the soul through choral music by the likes of Gibbons, Tallis, Britten, Rachmaninov, Mendelssohn, Dove and Stanford.
Among the other stars of the festival will be Baroque group Red Priest, Aquarelle Guitar Quartet, violinist Ye-Eun Choi and pianist Federico Colli.
Before the concert, the winner will enjoy lunch for two at Palé Hall’s restaurant, created in association with Michelin-star chef Michael Caines, returning in the evening to enjoy a night’s stay and breakfast the following morning.
This historic Victorian mansion in the tranquil Dee valley has an idyllic woodland garden next to the banks of the river and is just the place for a quiet retreat, complete with great food.
Please note that the prize does not include travel. Palé Hall is 33 miles from St Asaph Cathedral – a beautiful drive through the North Wales countryside.
