Presented by Frank Skinner and Joan Bakewell, Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year starts on Sky Arts 1 Tuesday 5th November at 8pm. With almost 2,000 amateur and professional entrants, four regional festivals take place in London, Glasgow, Dublin and Cardiff where artists paint a prominent celebrity or public figure.
The four winners from each festival will have their work displayed in the National Portrait Gallery and will also face the challenge of painting Sophie Dahl in Paris. The overall winner will receive a £10,000 commission to paint Hilary Mantel, which will be displayed in the British Library.
