Twisted Nerve - Theme & Variations Bernard Herrmann
Inspired is the brand new album from Classic FM’s very own ‘composer in residence’ Howard Goodall. The essential collection of his best-loved pieces alongside breathtaking new music.
Multi award-winning composer of choral music, stage musicals, film and TV scores, Howard Goodall is also a well known TV and radio broadcaster. His ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’ show on Classic FM is a favourite with listeners, and reflects his strong influence within the film and TV world. Howard’s best-known TV & film themes/scores include Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Q.I., Mr Bean & The Vicar of Dibley. Goodall’s score for the HBO film Into the Storm won him an EMMY award for Original Dramatic Score in 2009.
Howard’s previous albums released through Classic FM include listener favourites ‘Enchanted Voices’, ‘Pelicans in the Wilderness’ and ‘Enchanted Carols’. Now, we are proud to present his latest release – ‘Inspired - The Essential Collection’.
The album features a number of new works, alongside some of Howard’s best-loved pieces, including ‘Ecce homo (theme from Mr Bean)’, ‘Agnus Dei (from Eternal Light: A requiem)’, and ‘Psalm 23’.
Foremost among the new compositions is a brand new oratorio commissioned by United Learning to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible in 2011 – Every Purpose Under The Heaven. The album features the world premiere recording of this 10 part oratorio. The title track – Inspired - is also brand new and it showcases Howard’s natural gift and the talents of guest performer Craig Ogden.
Truly an inspirational album not to be missed.
