Every Saturday night at 9pm-10pm, David Mellor reviews all the latest classical music releases.
David's Album of the Week comes from a brilliant young Austrian pianist.
This week, David Mellor awards his Album of the Week to a new recording from the 28-year old pianist Ingolf Wunder . Three years into his record deal with Deutsche Grammophon, he has released two of the greatest works in the repertoire - the first Piano Concertos of both Tchaikovsky and Chopin. On it he is accompanied by the magnificent St. Petersburg Philharmonic under the baton of the legendary Vladimir Ashkenazy .
The most recorded conductor of all time, Herbert Von Karajan features as David’s 'Recording of Special Historical Significance', while David argues that the mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato is the best in the world with her latest album, due out in September.
