The New Releases Show with David Mellor - Saturday 24 May 2014

Impressive new recordings of Chopin and Bach are among David Mellor's choices.

This week, David Mellor showcases a great new album of the Chopin piano concertos from star Russian pianist Nikolai Lugansky. As ever, the pianist demonstrates a perfect balance between virtuosic fireworks and lyrical melody. On this recording, he's ably assisted by an orchestra that probably has the best insight into the soul of Chopin, Sinfonia Varsovia.

Listen out also for a wonderful set of historic recordings featuring the legendary conductor Carlo Maria Giulini , as well as a fresh new take on the keyboard music of Bach .
