Jane Jones is here Monday to Wednesday from 8pm with two hours of full works. On Thursday and Friday, Catherine Bott is in the hot seat.
Catherine Bott celebrates the 70th birthday of trumpeter Crispian Steele Perkins with two superb performances.
Tonight Catherine Bott wishes many happy returns to the acclaimed trumpeter Crispian Steele Perkins, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Steele-Perkins picked up his first trumpet at the age of 10 and progressed so quickly that just six years later he was playing with the English National Youth Orchestra. On graduating from the Guildhall School of Music, he began his professional career with the Sadler's Wells Theatre before performing with the London Gabrielli Brass Ensemble 1and then moving on to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Baroque Soloists, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, The King's Consort for 14 years, and the Retrospect Ensemble, with whom he still plays.
His purity of tone and artistic subtlety have received critical acclaim for more than four decades now. In addition to his work with classical orchestras and period instruments, he has developed a body of TV and film work which is universally recognisable, including the theme tune to Antiques Roadshow , the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers .
