The Full Works Concert - Thursday 14 August, 8pm

Haydn's Clock Symphony is the climax of tonight's Full Works Concert, which also features the nation's favourite piano concerto.

Brighton Clock Restored

One of the greatest piano concertos of all time begins the Full Works Concert tonight, and it’s a superb recording of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 by Simon Trpceski and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic under Vasily Petrenko

There are also summery contributions from Antonio Vivaldi and Paul Reade - his Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite , and the Symphony No.101  - the 'Clock' - by Haydn . Listen to the bassoons and the strings in the second movement and you'll hear something quite striking: that incessant rhythmic pulse sounds so much like a timepiece going round and round it was given the perfect moniker.
