Saturday Night at the Movies - Saturday 4 July 2015, 5pm

To mark U.S. Independence Day today, Andrew Collins looks across the pond to some quintessentially American films.

On this week's edition of Saturday Night at the Movies, occurring as it does on the Fourth of July, Andrew Collins salutes Uncle Sam and in particular enjoys revisiting some of America's finest achievements in film.

There will be music from movies that have explored episodes in American history, including Lincoln, Last of the Mohicans and Saving Private Ryan – as well as those which feature iconic American landmarks in pivotal scenes, such as North by Northwest, with its final climactic chase scene around Mount Rushmore - and King Kong's iconic straddling of the Empire State Building.
