Saturday Night at the Movies - 10 May 2014

Prepare to find yourself on the edge of your seat as Howard Goodall explores the great suspense soundtracks.

This week, Howard Goodall is testing our nerves and devoting the show to the thriller and suspense genres.

As a practicing composer himself, Howard can highlight with some authority how the great masters of movie music go about enhancing edge-of-the-seat tension.

Howard has a great selection of music from specific scenes to demonstrate their techniques. Listen out for John Williams' music for Jaws, Steven Price's Oscar and BAFTA winning score for Gravity and various spine-chilling Bernard Herrmann scores from the films of Alfred Hitchcock.
