Cinema Classics stays at No.1 but there are some super villiains getting ready for the kill.
After winning an Oscar for his score for Gravity, it seems like the young(ish) British composer Steven Price can do no wrong. He’s got the highest new entry in this week’s Chart with his music for Suicide Squad, the DC Comics ‘supervillain’ action picture, starring Will Smith and Jared Leto. This is the story of a bunch of very dangerous, and already imprisoned, villains who are brought out of incarceration for a top-secret mission.
As to be expected, this is a very powerful soundtrack, with an unnerving, sinister edge to the music, playing up the unpredictability of the antics of Jared Leto’s The Joker and his bad guy chums. And it certainly makes a change to have a comic book score from someone other than Hans Zimmer.
