But while Finzi, composer of masterpieces such as Eclogue and the Clarinet Concerto, found Harrogate too much for his introspective personality, one great composer found the town very much to his taste. Edward Elgar frequently holidayed in Harrogate, so much so that the town has named his favourite walk in the town's Valley Gardens public park, Elgar Walk.
