Notes From Hidden Britain: Edinburgh and Glasgow
12. Eugen d'Albert
Scotland’s second city, Glasgow is the birthplace of a composer with a very un-Scottish name. Eugen d'Albert was a talented musician who in 1876, aged only 12, travelled to London to study. D'Albert eventually won the Mendelssohn (pictured) Scholarship giving him the opportunity to move to Vienna from where he launched a career as a composer and pianist.
