Now to Norwich and to the church of St Peter Mancroft church that stands in the marketplace. One of the church's first organists was the composer William Crotch, a child prodigy whose ambitious mother took him to London to play for King George III in 1779. To encourage him to play, the onlookers gave him cakes and fruit which Crotch later admitted had spoiled him a little.
