This Week on Notes From Hidden Britain with Ben Fogle...

In a brand new series, in association with Green Flag, Classic FM explores the places in the UK that have inspired some of the world’s greatest music.

We take to the road to discover a treasure trove of music: home-grown composers from Purcell to Elgar, Maxwell-Davies to McCartney have been inspired by Britain’s history, traditions and landscape; throughout our journey we’ll also map the routes of composers new to these shores who have found the UK uniquely inspirational.

Tune in to Notes from Hidden Britain at 9pm from Sunday 6th May on Classic FM on Digital Radio, 100-102FM and

Sunday, September 2:

In the final episode of the series, Ben’s musical road trip takes him to Northern Ireland.  Starting in Belfast with performances from local lads Barry Douglas and James Galway, Ben continues his travels to the village of Hillsborough, the place that the composer and conductor Hamilton Harty called home in 1879.  We’ll enjoy music from an English composer who was inspired to write a symphony after a holiday in Belfast and Ben’s journey concludes with a performance by the Ulster Orchestra.
