Every Saturday night at 9pm-10pm, David Mellor reviews all the latest classical music releases.
Vasily Petrenko takes the RLPO through a spirited account of Rachmaninov's first symphony.
David Mellor's Album of the Week tonight comes from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Classic FM's Orchestra in North-West England. It's the important third release completing their series of Rachmaninov symphonies under charismatic conductor Vasily Petrenko.
David's describing this as a 'miraculously spirited account.'
There's also a marvellous compilation of Pavarotti singing Verdi, and the Great American Songbook as you've never heard it before.
