The New Releases Show, Saturday 15 August 2015, 9pm

David Mellor reviews recently released and re-released albums, but what will be his Album of the Week?

Among his pick of the best new releases this week, David reviews a superb new album from Grammy-nominated, The Dufay Collective. They've been performing and recording their unique brand of early music for nearly three decades, winning awards and wide-spread critical acclaim along the way. I Have Set My Hert So Hy marks the group’s return to the recording studio with a collection of 15th century songs and instrumental numbers.

And in the 66th volume of Hyperion's Romantic Piano Concertos series, also featured tonight, Howard Shelley has uncovered a superb lost concerto by Henri Herz. Austrian by birth and French by choice, Herz was a pianist and composer, and a music teacher at the Paris Conservatoire, who wrote no fewer than
eight piano concertos, a piano sonata, rondos, nocturnes, waltzes, marches, fantasias, and numerous sets of variations.

David also has been enjoying a new album of Paganini's Caprices, arranged for solo flute, and a spectacular recording of Mahler's 7th symphony with Lorin Maazel conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.
