The Full Works Concert - Tuesday 4 December 2012: Autumn Releases

Sound the Trumpet is the brilliant new collection of English music by star trumpeter Alison Balsom – and tonight, we’ll begin the Full Works Concert with music taken from it.

Also this evening, a great new recording of Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 (‘From the New World’) performed by the Orchestra of the Academy of St. Cecilia conducted by Antonio Pappano, and music from Lang Lang’s latest collection of piano music by Chopin.  Plus – a fiery, five-star performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.3 (‘Polish’), conducted by Valery Gergiev, from the London Symphony Orchestra’s new collection of the composer’s early symphonies.
