The Full Works Concert - Monday 27 January 2014: Classic FM on Tour

The first of five concerts featuring Classic FM's partner orchestras. Tonight it's the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

All this week, Jane Jones takes a musical journey across the UK, shining the spotlight on five of Classic FM’s partner orchestras.

Beginning with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (Classic FM’s Orchestra in Scotland), there’ll be further concerts this week from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (Classic FM’s Orchestra in the South of England), the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (Classic FM’s Orchestra in the North-West of England), the Philharmonia Orchestra (Classic FM’s Orchestra on Tour) and the Royal Northern Sinfonia (Classic FM’s Orchestra in the North-East of England).

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra was formed in 1891 as the Scottish Orchestra, before becoming the Scottish National Orchestra in 1950. It was awarded Royal Patronage in 1991. The orchestra performs across Scotland, including seasons in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth and Inverness. It also has a world-wide reputation for the quality of its recordings.
