Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Classical Music, Sunday 15 November 2015, 9pm

Catherine Bott casts an affectionate look back at Walt Disney's Fantasia, on the occasion of its 75th birthday.

Walt Disney’s Fantasia premiered 75 years ago on 13 November 1940.

Some years later it was the first film Catherine Bott ever saw. So tonight, she’s keen to explore just how important Fantasia was in introducing classical music to new audiences all over the world using the medium of animation.

There'll be a chance to hear some of the favourite moments from the original soundtrack itself with the great Leopold Stokowski conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra.

And there’ll be more modern day recordings of such masterpieces as Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Mussorgsky’s A Night on the Bare Mountain.
