David Mellor (Sun 3 August)

On 4 August 1914 Britain declared war on Germany and entered a horrendous conflict that would claim over 16 million lives.

On the eve of the centenary of this momentous moment in modern history, David Mellor explores Britain’s Great War years, particularly through the music of Elgar – a composer who had his own complex relationship with the decision to fight.
