Alex casts an eye over the classical music anniversaries of the coming week.
On this week’s show Alex finds out about Chopin's final performance in Warsaw. He was only 20 years old and left his homeland less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830 Uprising.
Also tonight Alex celebrates the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams, discovering how Gustav Holst surprised his friend in his back garden on his birthday.
We'll also be marking the premiere of Dvorak’s Violin Concerto in 1883, as well as the birthdays of pianist Evgeny Kissin and conductor Peter Phillips.
