Karl Jenkins's Stella natalis ('Star of birth') is a work in twelve movements celebrating different aspects of the Christmas season - winter, the sleeping child, tidings of peace, thanksgiving - with words ranging from the Old Testament, Zulu texts, Hindu scripture and contemporary poetry. Sometimes uplifting, sometimes calming, stamped all the way through with the composer's personality and style.
