Christmas at Buckingham Palace LARGE

Christmas Day, 3pm-5pm. Join Nicholas Owen in the Ballroom of Buckingham Palace for the annual Carol Concert for the Royal Household.

On Christmas Day, Classic FM presenter and former ITN Royal Correspondent Nicholas Owen joins the Royal Household in the beautiful surroundings of the ballroom of Buckingham Palace for their annual Carol Concert.

Ahead of the concert, our presenter Margherita Taylor went along to the Palace to see the Christmas trees going up and to find out how you go about decorating a tree for the Royal Family.

How do you decorate a Christmas tree for Her Majesty The Queen?

We spoke to some of the household staff at Buckingham Palace who decorate all the trees for the Royal Family and their Household

Music: The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, performed by the Berlin Philharmonic and Simon Rattle. Find out more and buy the album here.

The carol concert for the Royal Household, which takes place every year, is put on for the staff who work for Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family, and features a range of much-loved carols and Christmas music.

Here's the choir performing 'Mary Had a Baby' from last year's concert to whet your appetite
