Chinese violinists perform new version of 'Gangnam Style'

The classical world has paid tribute to one of 2012's biggest musical events - PSY's Gangnam Style. A group of violinists in Beijing have performed a classical cover version of the YouTube record-breaking K-pop song on Chinese television.

The concert, which took place on Saturday night, featured an ensemble of three violinists performing the song to a rapturous audience. They were accompanied by a pianist, dancers and an elaborate disco light show.

Other works played by the ensemble during the concert included music from Schindler's List and Pirates of the Caribbean .

'Gangnam Style' broke internet records on 21st December when it became the first YouTube video to have been viewed over 1 billion times.
