Darcey Bussell on The Classic FM Interview

12 September 2012, 12:45

Darcey Bussell, ballerina and forthcoming Strictly Come Dancing judge spent an hour with Nick Ferrari for The Classic FM Interview.

One of the greatest British ballerinas of all time, Darcey Bussell’s journey as a dancer started relatively late in life, not beginning until at the age of 13. By aged 17 Darcey had joined the Royal Ballet and then aged 20 she became the Royal Ballet's youngest ever principal dancer.

Having retired from professional ballet in 2007, Darcey decided to go back en pointe to perform as part of the London 2012 closing ceremony.

From Principal dancer to mum, Darcey talks to Nick Ferrari about making the decision to retire from dancing and what she misses and loved about performing. “You’re all in this wonderful art and you’re all trying to perfect something that is extraordinary and a bit of magic.”

Find out about her life so far, her plans for the future and her favourite classical music.
