The 90-year-old actress voiced the character of Mrs Potts in the original 1991 movie. And her performance at the weekend took a generation of moviegoers back to their childhood.

Angela Lansbury drew whoops and cheers at an event to mark the 25th anniversary of classic Disney movie Beauty and the Beast when she sang the title song – accompanied on the piano by the composer Alan Menken.

Lansbury voiced the character of a Cockney housemaid who had been bewitched and turned into a teapot in the 1991 film. It has recently been remade as a live action film starring Emma Watson and will be released in 2017.

Lansbury even finished her performance at New York’s Lincoln Center at the weekend with a line from the movie: “Run along and get in the cupboard, Chip. Time you was in bed. Night love!”

No, we are NOT crying. It is just raining. Watch the video of Angela Lansbury's performance below.
