Team Vaughan Williams
It's always tight at the top of the Hall of Fame. But Jamie Crick's on a mission to get Vaughan Williams back to No. 1. Find out why he wants you on his team...
This year, the Classic FM Hall of Fame is more competitive than ever before. The composers are going head to head in the ultimate classical battle, so they can claim the prize of being top of the top 300 in 2014.
Unfortunately, most of the composers in the Hall of Fame are, well, dead. So we've enlisted the help of a few of our presenters to champion their cause.
When it comes to British music, Jamie Crick's a huge fan. But as far as beautiful pastoral tunes go, there's only one composer who REALLY deserves to be at the top of this year's chart: Ralph Vaughan Williams. And the piece that embodies his incredible soaring tunes? It has to be The Lark Ascending.
Vaughan Williams' Lark is the classical equivalent of Marmite - and there really are some staunch haters out there - but Jamie's not deterred. He's convinced the Lark really can live up to its namesake and Ascend to the top of the Hall of Fame this year with a little help from #TeamVaughanWilliams.
So what are you waiting for? Love Vaughan Williams? Vote for him in the Classic FM Hall of Fame 2014.
