Writing Britain: Wastelands to Wonderlands

Writing Britain: Wastelands to Wonderlands is the British Library’s latest exhibition running now until the 25th of September.

This major exhibition examines how some of the greatest authors have been inspired by Britain. The Library has brought together a unique range of highlights from its collection of manuscripts, rare first editions, historic maps and photographs alongside loans from around the world.
Star items include: J K Rowling’s manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, John Lennon’s original lyrics for ‘In My Life’ Charles Dickens'original manuscript of Our Mutual Friend
and JRR Tolkien’s watercolour sketch of The Shire.
