VS Gala 2012

VS Gala 2012 is a programme of Tchaikovsky's works – encompassing classical, ballet and opera – many of which will be familiar to fans of more contemporary styles and which, appropriately, reflect the diverse catchment of society that the charity Victim Support assists annually.

VS Gala 2012 takes place on 22 November at the Barbican Hall, London. Performing throughout the evening are the Orion Orchestra, who work closely with numerous charities to better promote their work and fund-raising opportunities.

The first half of the Gala concert highlights some of the most well-known and loved excerpts of Tchaikovsky's Ballets, conducted by special guest star, Sue Perkins.

Toby Purser takes up the baton in the second half, showcasing one of Tchaikovsky's favourite Opera's Eugene Onegin, to be sung in English. Excerpts include Lensky's famous and beautiful aria, as well as Tatyana's letter aria and the final explosive scene with Tatyana and Onegin.

This Gala is in aid of Victim Support and its Witness Service and the money raised on the night through ticket sales will go towards supporting victims of crime and witnesses in London.
