Myleene and Aled hosted a star-studded evening this Sunday, 15th November, including performances by trumpeter Alison Balsom and soprano Laura Wright, as Darcey Bussell switched on the Regent Street Christmas Lights.

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun, thanks to Darcey Bussell and our very own Myleene and Aled.

This Sunday, 15th November, the two Classic FM presenters hosted an evening of performances by trumpeter Alison Balsom, soprano Laura Wright, the cast of the hit musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Superstar ballet dancer and Strictly Come Dancing judge, Darcey Bussell, switched on 'Timeless Elegance', the brand new Regent Street Christmas Lights, sponsored by Jo Malone London.

Darcey Bussell – whose compilation album The Darcey Bussell Ballet Collection is on sale now – said: “It was an honour for me to switch on the world famous Regent Street Christmas Lights. It was wonderful to see so many people celebrating the start of Christmas with us, right in the heart of the world’s finest city.”

Aled said: “Now that’s what I call a switch on! What a privilege to help turn on Regent Street’s brand new lights. Joined by thousands of shoppers and with performances from some of Classic FM’s favourite artists, I can’t think of a better way to launch the countdown to Christmas in London.”

In a first for Regent Street, the lights gradually moved and sparkled in time with a brand new piece of music by Pierre Mussche, performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra. The switch-on also featured video animations and projections for the first time ever.
