Aida
Giuseppe Verdi
28 September – 2 December 2017
English National Opera at the London Coliseum
Aida must choose between the man she loves and the homeland she longs for. Betrayal is the only option.
Aida is a timeless story of duty, love and betrayal amid the clash of war. This is opera on a grand scale, in which ENO’s award-winning Chorus and Orchestra will demonstrate their full power.
Following his recent Akhnaten for ENO, Improbable’s Olivier Award-winning director Phelim McDermott stages this distinctive new production. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts Verdi’s score which contrasts swaggering military marches with tender lyricism. Aida is sung in English, with surtitles projected above the stage.
