A selection of uplifting and reflective music to mark Remembrance Day. Much of the music is written by composers who served in the war, or composed during war time.
This cantata, written in 1936, is a plea for peace in the face of the threat of impending war. It takes its text from the Mass, poems by Walt Whitman, a political speech, and sections of the Bible. The words 'Dona nobis pacem' (grant us peace) punctuate the piece. Photo: Getty
