The World's Greatest Music
Turning 21 is quite the milestone birthday. On 7 September 2013, Classic FM celebrates 21 years of broadcasting - but what had the great composers achieved by this age?
Edward Elgar inherited a taste for music from his father, but didn't receive that much formal training in music until he visited London in 1877 at the age of 20. After leaving school in 1872, he became a clerk for a local solicitor, around the same time as making his first public appearances as a violinist and organist.
