Jonny May - Uptown Funk (Bruno Mars)

This crazy Funk-Boogie-Ragtime piano cover is just awesome.

By Maddy Shaw Roberts

This is the best, funkiest, coolest version of Bruno Mars' ‘Uptown Funk’. End of.

If you’ve never heard ‘Uptown Funk’ before, now’s the time to listen to it:

Yeah, it’s a great pop tune. But not as devastatingly dance-inducing as this boogie-woogie piano reinvention. The whole thing is mesmerising, from the funky walking bassline to the epic glissandi. But the turning point has to be at 1:35, when the pianist starts hitting the piano and stamping in time to his glissando-filled rag.

Just watch those fingers fly over his white Yamaha grand:

Incredible stuff.

You can even get the sheet music from the pianist himself, just here

This virtuosic cover was masterminded by Jonny May, who also did an amazing SIX jazzy reinventions of the ‘Happy Birthday’ tune:
